Hi, I'm Jess
“I am a Dorset based portrait artist and have been living on the south coast for over ten years. My passion for portraits began early on in life when I first began to make small sketches of people, often opting to use a biro when possible as I found it more challenging.
After choosing to follow Art at A level I moved to Falmouth, Cornwall where I completed a diploma in Art and Design. Here I experimented with various mediums and techniques, my favourite being oils and detailed pen drawings. A lot of my time was spent sitting in cafes or on benches making quick studies of passers-by and trying to capture that essence which makes people so unique.
I then went on to complete a degree in Illustration at the University of Arts, Bournemouth. I have since been establishing myself as a freelance artist, specialising in detailed biro drawings and oil paintings. I love to capture a person or animal’s essence and personality. I enjoy my work immensely and hope you do too.”
